This
exotic little town located in the northeast of Brazil
is the hotspot in the global windsurfing scene, and
yes, Vela is there bringing you more of what you can
always expect: the best gear on the beach, a friendly
and helpful staff, and an amazing destintation to enjoy
your vacation time. Warm water, constant wind, lots
of sun, cool nightlife, exotic activities, and the majestic
natural scenery of Jericoacoara National Park makes
it the dream spot for any windsurfer or traveler.
The Vela Center is located beachfront
right in front of the action, and offers several services
such as buffet restaurant, cyber café, surfshop,
massage clinic, activities desk, as well as the top
quality equipment and professional instruction you are
familiar with.
Jericoacoara bay is guaranteed fun
for sailors of all abilities, as it offers flat water
areas for intermediates and an exciting wave spot at
the tip of the bay. Jeri is known as "one of the
best place in the world to learn wavesailing".
That means easy, safe, long waves, where you can improve
your ripping and jumping abilities. Note that in the
high season strong winds and a side-offshore pattern
makes Jeri anintimidating and challenging place for
beginners.
In the morning, lighter winds may provide conditions
for less advanced sailors. As the wind increases, waves
start rolling in on the windward side of the bay. The
best waves can be found from October-January. The wind
is reliable from July through December. June and January
are usually great as well, but late winter and spring
are the rainy season and the winds are not reliable.
Jericoacoara offers many activities for your off-the-water
moments. Dune buggy tours, sandboarding, horseback riding
and GPS hiking are just a few of the exciting activities
offered in this stunning landscape that combines huge
sand dunes, swaying palm trees, impressive rock monuments
and so much more. Discovered by backpackers in the 80's,
Jeri is now a cool little town offering charming accommodations,
delicious food, cultural activities and an exotic nightlife.
Call Vela to arrange flights to Fortaleza airport, and
from there transfers to Jericoacoara, which is about
4 hours west by car. Transfers are made in 4WD vehicles,
as the last miles of the way are on soft sand.
